Recent form. Check your team’s last few games to gauge if they’re in good or bad form. Match up. Check the head-to-head record between the two teams, you may find the so-called favourite has historically struggled against their less fancied opponent. Home court advantage. If in doubt, you should probably pick the home team, since they’re on familiar ground, don’t have to travel/stay in a hotel, and have their home crowd behind them. Roster/line-up. Check the ins and outs for the game - injuries and poor form can significantly alter the outcome of the game. X-factor. Look for the X-factor. You never know when one of the stars of the competition is going to light it up. For example, Steph to drain 40+ points.
Looking for the best NBA odds and markets? Here’s some betting markets to skyrocket your odds:
Head-to-Head. Bet on one team over the other. For example, the Bulls to defeat the Heat. Line betting. Also known as ‘spread betting’, it’s essentially when the bookie handicaps and gives better odds than the Head-to-Head market. For example, if you see Celtics -5.5, that means if the Celtics still win the game minus the line, then the bet results as a win. This is one of the most common bets in basketball. Total points over/under. If you’re not sure who will win, you could try betting on the amount of total game points. For example, The Lakers and Warriors to score over 180 points combined. Winning margins. If you’re confident in one team winning, you can bet on the margin. For example, the Magic to win by 21+ points. Point scorers. Bet on how many points a player might score. For example, Steph Curry to score 30+ points. Future Bets. These are bets that will result towards the end of the season, so they offer value for long-term plays. For example, NBA Championship odds, Eastern conference champion, Western conference champion, Rookie of the year and NBA MVP.
