MIBR have made the travels over from North America and will hope to take home the €15,000 prize. We break it all down in our preview of Vie Legend Series Season 6.
Legend Series Season 6 is organized by Allied Esports and will run from August 31 to September 13. The likes of MIBR and Heretics are among the sixteen teams who will duke it hoping to win part of the €30,000 prize pool. There is also a bounty system in place, with each team taking home €500 for every group stage win and €1,500 for winning the group.
The sixteen teams have been divided into four groups and will battle through a best-of-three GSL style bracket. The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The quarter-finals will be played in a best-of-three format, but both the semi-final and the grand final will be best-of-five.
Heretics will be one of the favorites to take the tournament. The trio of kioShiMa, Lucky and xms have plenty of experience at the top level, and Maka and Nivera have quickly etablished themselves as two of the biggest prospects in the region.
Winstrike are in a tough spot after losing Hobbit, who chose to leave the team and continue on as a free agent. Hobbit was one of the team’s top performers, and it is not easy to replace a player of his caliber in the current market. Winstrike decided to pick up the former pro100 player, Nickelback, to replace him. A decent acquisition, but he has big shoes to fill.
Secret have bolstered their lineup with the acquisition of the former Apeks player, Radifaction. This is one of the stronger teams in the competition, and a worthy challenger for the title alongside the likes of Heretics and MIBR.
The Bulgarian side FATE are in a rough patch at the moment, but this team has some decent individuals in the form of h4rn and mar. It would be a huge surprise if they made it all the way, but they definitely have potential to upset some of the better teams in the competition.
Apeks is a Norwegian roster that decided to pick up the former fnatic player dennis from free agency last spring. Their record is shoddy at best, but it needs to be said that they have played a fair amount of solid teams, while some of the other teams in the competition have padded records. They have made playofs in three straight Malta Vibes Cups, but Russian teams like forZe and Espada have proven to be too much for the Scandinavians. Apeks are a team of solid aimers with an interesting map pool, but they have yet to really break through and deliver a performance worthy of winning a tournament.
HellRaisers have really had to make a proper re-build after ANGE1 left the team, and they have chosen to go with a mixture of players from the CIS region and the Baltics. The star of this team is Flarich, who has looked great and jR is a solid piece as the AWP and the in-game leader of this team. However, it is questionable if the remainder of the players have what it takes to win a tournament of this caliber.
While the likes of Winstrike have been forced to make roster changes, Nemiga’s roster has remained intact. Spearheaded by lollipop21k, this team has a ton of individual skill which is typical of teams in the region, but their fundamentals are questionable at times. However, when this team is firing on all cylinders they are really hard to deal with, especially on a map like Mirage where their individuals can really shine.
MIBR are currently in Serbia bootcamping, which is why we have seen them play plenty of these European tournaments as of late. They finished in 5th-8th place in both Malta Vibes 9 and Nine to Five 3, and they are really struggling against the European online grinders. At first glance, you’d think that MIBR would win a tournament like this, but it is far from a certainty.
The two teams that I like the most in this tournament are Heretics and Secret. MIBR definitely have the most experience, but it is hard to back them at the moment considering how much they have struggled against the Europeans.
