Liquid have officially announced the signing of Michael “Grim” Wince, formerly of Triumph, replacing Nick “nitr0” Cannella who departed the team last week.

Grim is set to make his debut against Ze Pug Godz at DreamHack Summer next week in a group that includes his former team Triumph, as well as Chaos Esports Club.

With the addition of Grim, Liquid’s roster now looks as follows:

  • 🇺🇸 Jake “Stewie2k” Yip
  • 🇺🇸 Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski
  • 🇨🇦 Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken
  • 🇨🇦 Keith “NAF” Markovic
  • 🇺🇸 Michael “Grim” Wince

Who is Grim?

Team: Liquid (ex. Triumph)
K/D Ratio: 1.09
Headshot Percentage: 48.3%
Assists / Round: 0.13

Grim caught the attention of fans and pundits alike during his time on Triumph, where he posted a K/D ratio of 1.23 with 0.84 kills/round and a 1.26 overall rating. His performance against MIBR in the cs_summit qualifier was particularly impressive, posting 36 kills in a 16–6 win on Dust2.

Grim is a highly skilled player, and a pure rifler by trade. His aim is his strongest attribute, and his multi-kill potential is very high. While playing for Triumph, Grim far outperformed his teammates in this regard, managing to kill two or more players in 22.30% of rounds—a truly staggering statistic.

Grim has also proven to be proficient in clutch situations, again proven by the numbers. Throughout his time on Triumph, Grim has been flawless in both 1on2 and 1on3 situations, winning eleven 1on2s and three 1on3s. While Grim’s numbers are somewhat exaggerated due to the level that Triumph often competed at, he has shown in games against the likes of MIBR, Gen.G and FURIA that he is more than capable even against a higher level of competition.

How will this change affect Liquid?

In a recent stream, Liquid’s coach adreN ensured that Grim would receive most of his old positions that he had on Triumph, which should ensure that he is able to swiftly integrate into the team.

With the addition of Grim, Liquid now have one of the most individually skilled rosters in the world. However, with nitr0’s departure, a lot of the pressure now falls on Stewie2k to do most of the calling for the team. This is a role that he occupied during his time on Cloud9 and in recent months for Liquid, but there will certainly be an adjustment period. The loss of nitr0 also means that NAF and Stewie2k will likely have to utilize the AWP a lot more frequently since this was nitr0’s role on several maps in the rotation.
