fnatic have announced the signing of Jackinho
fnatic have confirmed the signing of the Swedish AWPer Jack “Jackinho” Ström Matsson. The 21-year old comes in to replace Robin “flusha” Rönnquist, who recently departed fnatic after more than a year with the organisation. The announcement was made by fnatic on Twitter, where Jackinho expressed his excitement about teaming up with the likes of Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin on fnatic.
“Joining fnatic, wow… I’m really honoured and I’m really proud. I Have dreamt of playing for fnatic”, Jackinho said in the announcement video before he went on to speak about his relationship with Brollan. “I have been playing with Brollan quite a lot actually. I play with him a lot outside of his team. We have a good natural chemistry I’d say.”
Jackinho has spent his career in the Swedish scene, playing in several domestic leagues and cups. In 2020, he managed to win three such tournaments, namely Svenska Elitserien Spring (The Swedish Elite League), Doritos Open 2 and Yalla Cup Winter. Jackinho is an AWPer by trade and has recorded a K/D ratio of 1.40, 0.81 kills/round and an overall rating of 1.29 in 411 rounds over the past year.
While Jackinho does his best work with the big green gun, it is expected that Jesper “JW” Wecksell will to continue to wield the AWP on fnatic initially, as mentioned in a recent interview with Jackinho by Swedish tabloid, Expressen.
“From the beginning, I will not play the AWP but JW will continue with it, and I will try some new roles. But it is a dialogue I had with the coach and our IGL and we have laid out a plan of what we think will work best”, Jackinho said in the interview.
With the addition of Jackinho, fnatic will field the following roster in 2021:
