The LPL’s spring split kicks off on Saturday with favourites Top Esports in action. Here is a look at some prop bets to consider for your Picklebet bet slip.
Map handicap: Top Esports -1.5 (1.64)
Top Esports have been one of the most powerful teams in the LPL for a while now. Last year’s summer split showed just why. They have a quick, aggressive style of play, particularly in the middle and bottom lanes that allow them to blitz turrets in the second tier to open an enemy’s base. After a somewhat middling World Championship to end the year, Top Esports will be looking to open the 2021 season in style against a team that can often be guilty of being passive in the lanes. That’s why Top Esports should get through this opening game without dropping a map.
Mid laner Knight and bot laner JackeyLove were in astounding form in 2020. JackeyLove quickly found his form for Top Esports towards the end of the spring split. That stunning offensive momentum was one of the big reasons for Top Esports’ blitz success in the lanes. Karsa will continue to operate in the jungle and 369 will be responsible for breaking open the top lane in the comparative offensive shadow of the other lanes.
Total maps: Over 2.5 (2.32)
Oh My God had a disappointing year in 2020, particularly in the summer split. However, teams in the LPL are fairly even, at least compared to some of the other leagues around in the pro circuit. That makes three-map encounters quite frequent. Edward Gaming are expected to win this easily. I don’t see this being a blowout win for them though. There were periods in summer when Edward Gaming were in appalling shape entering neutral-objective fights. That could give Oh My God a chance to win at least one map in this contest.
Hope will continue to be the key player for Edward Gaming this season, guarding the bottom lane. He will be helped along by Flandre, Meiko and Scout in their respective positions. For Oh My God, a lot of their success will depend on the experience of New and Wuming.
