IEM Beijing: FaZe vs. G2

Over 2.5 Maps (1.94)

G2 have recovered nicely after taking a loss to NiP in the group stage of IEM Beijing, beating both North and mousesports to make the quarter-finals. FaZe haven’t been too bad themselves, upsetting Vitality and beating OG. This will be the first time that these two teams face off since NiKo made the move over to G2, so this should be a spicy matchup. FaZe have been the slightly better side historically, winning three out of the last five matches against G2 in 2020, but losing NiKo definitely does make things a whole lot more difficult for them. Rumours are also circulating that karrigan could be making his return to the FaZe roster, so it is hard to know where they are mentally right now. Overall, they have been in good spirits since NiKo left the team and it seems like Kjaerbye in particular is having more impact on the team since olofmeister came in to stand-in for NiKo. With this in mind, it really would not surprise me if this ended up being a closely contested matchup.

Flashpoint 2: forZe vs. MIBR

forZe (1.82)

This is a tough one to call. MIBR have looked better than expected with their new roster, taking maps against some really good teams. forZe, on the other hand, have looked shaky overall, but they have also taken some big wins against top competition such as against NaVi at IEM New York CIS. Nuke and Vertigo have been two great maps for MIBR, one of which will certainly get banned by forZe in this one. The fact that forZe are solid on Nuke gives them the upperhand in this matchup overall, in my opinion. I could see MIBR banning Inferno here hoping that forZe will pick Dust2 or Mirage, but these are still good maps for forZe overall. As such, I would slightly edge this series in favour of forZe.
