The rescheduling of the competition was made due to the unrest and protests across the USA following the death of George Floyd. The decision was made jointly by the COD League and Minnesota Rokkr.

Floyd, a black man, was killed in Minneapolis last week by Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, which sparked outrage and unrest across the country.

Activision Blizzard, the game developers of Call of Duty, put out a post on Twitter, saying “today, and always, we support all those who stand against racism and inequality.

Minnesota Rokkr’s statement

In light of recent and current events, this weekend’s Call of Duty League Minnesota Røkkr Home Series will be postponed one week to June 12-14. We will share more details soon, including how the Call of Duty League family plans to pay tribute to George Floyd and dedicate this Home Series to supporting the fight for social justice and the rights of black and minority communities, as well as organizations assisting with rebuilding efforts both in Minneapolis and nationwide.”

What was said?

We have been working closely with CDL since last week on how we can use the event to raise money for charitable organizations supporting racial justice and community rebuilding efforts,” Brett Diamond, COO of WISE Ventures Esports and the Rokkr, said. ”Scheduling was part of those discussions but the decision was made in the past 24 hours.”

Where is the Call of Duty League now?

All teams, apart from Florida Mutineers, Dallas Empire, Atlanta Faze and Toronto Ultra, have played six events. The Chicago Huntsmen currently lead the Call of Duty League with 16 wins in 20 matches. Atlanta Faze, presently trailing Chicago by just one win, are expected to catch up quickly with the league leaders in the upcoming series. The Los Angeles Guerrillas are at the bottom of the table with a 3-11 record.

Epic Games also postpones launch

Epic Games, developer of video game Fortnite, also postponed the launch of Season 3 of their popular battle royale game Fortnite due to the protests in the USA.
