FunPlus Phoenix v LNG Esports

Map handicap: FunPlus Phoenix -1.5 (1.24)

FunPlus Phoenix are one of the best teams in China. They’ve been in sensational form, running from the spring split of the LPL into the Mid-Season Cup. In the spring split, they won 12 of 16 series to finish third on the points table. They won 27 of 40 maps as well during that split. There was a period during the regular season where they were simply unstoppable. LNG Esports finished 16th on the standings with an underwhelming 5-11 season record. They won just 15 maps too. FunPlus Phoenix shouldn’t have any problems winning without dropping a map.

Personnel

Doinb and Lwx combined to form one of the best mid laner-ADC combinations in the entire country. Both of them aggregated 4.38 kills per game during the split. They both comfortably surpassed a kill participation rate of 10 per map. Crisp contributed with 10 assists per game as support. Jungler Tian finished with a KDA of close to 4.

Top Esports v Rogue Warriors

Map handicap: Top Esports -1.5 (1.58)

Another mismatch to begin the campaign. Top Esports have showed their skill and experience over a sustained period of time. They finished as runners-up in the spring split, losing 3-2 in a thrilling final to JD Gaming. They then went and won the Mid-Season Cup, a tournament that featured eight of the best teams from the LPL and the LCK. They won 11 of 16 series in the spring split. Rogue Warriors weren’t even close to that level of consistency. They won 7 of 16 series and 18 of 40 games to finish 13th in the LPL table. The difference in quality is too wide to consider Rogue to win a map.

Personnel

JackeyLove will play as the solitary ADC for Top Esports in this split. He was brought in towards the closing stages of the regular season in spring and immediately showed his quality. Mid laner Knight was their most prolific player in the spring split, averaging close to 5 kills a game (4.84). He also had 6.65 assists and a KDA of 5.31.
