Edward Gaming v Team WE

Edward Gaming (1.55)

Edward Gaming had a decent spring split. They finished sixth in the points table with a 9-7 series record. Out of 41 maps, they won 23. They could have even pushed for fifth spot had they not lost their last two series of the season.  Team WE split their 16 series evenly and had a losing record in their maps (20 of 41 games). WE finished the spring split with two successive wins, sneaking them into the top eight of the LPL. There is a certain gulf in skill and quality, characteristics that could potentially make a big difference in the season opener.

Personnel

Hope leads the way for Edward Gaming. He had the best KDA in the spring split of the entire LPL, with 7.64. He led Edward Gaming in kills with 4.76 per game. He even had the lowest death rate in his team. From an offensive perspective, he was given good support by Scout, who finished with an average of 3.68 kills over a period of 41 games. Meiko was the only other player to have played all 41 games in the campaign.

LNG Esports v Suning

Suning (1.49)

There is obviously the possibility of an upset here but it’s quite unlikely. Suning were well below par in the spring split. They had the resources and the personnel to make a concerted effort to move into the top eight but they fell well short at 7-9 for the season, eventually finishing 11th in the table. They will feel they under-performed in that split. It’s quite plausible that Suning turn around that subpar campaign in the summer season. LNG Esports finished in the penultimate position with an underwhelming 5-11 series record. They also won just 15 maps out of a total 41.

Personnel

Suning’s offensive production relied heavily on their strong mid laner-ADC combination of Angel and Huanfeng. Both of them combined to produce nine kills a game on average in the split. Angel’s defensive skill allowed him to finish the campaign with the best KDA (4.75). SwordArt was one of the most effective support players in the LPL too, aggregating 9.32 assists per game, comfortably the highest in Suning.
