The world No. 1 CS:GO team is back in action in Thursday’s round of ESL Pro League action. Here are some predictions from those games.
One ranking spot separates these two teams. Forze are ranked No. 24 in the world, while North are at 23. In terms of recent form, both these teams have won three of their previous five matches. In the head-to-head matchup, North have won the only time they have faced each other, at DreamHack Anaheim earlier this year. Honestly, predicting this is as tough as they come in CS:GO because almost all factors cancel each other out on paper.
There is just one reason for backing Forze: the bigger payout. The winner will be decided based on the best team on the day. When a match is as evenly contested as this, a team with odds of more than 2.0 is quite attractive because the probability is even.
Natus Vincere (1.25)
On the other hand, there is nothing even about this game. Natus Vincere are the world’s best CS:GO team in the world, and rightfully so after the impressive run they’ve been on in 2020. Na Vi will be reeling after opening their ESL Pro League with a straight-maps loss.
BIG started their campaign with a morale-boosting 2-1 win against Fnatic, but will find a completely different kettle of fish in Na Vi. These two teams have played each other in four maps previously. Not only have Na Vi won all four, they have also decimated BIG on each occasion. The only time BIG managed to get into double digits was in a 16-11 defeat in Dust2 in the seventh season of the StarSeries i-League last year.
Fnatic, just like Na Vi, will be displeased with their tournament-opening loss. Fnatic were beaten in three maps by BIG. That defeat was preceded by three wins in four matches. Complexity also began in similar fashion, losing 2-1 to Forze.
One of the big reasons for backing Fnatic here is the apparent difference in skill and experience. Fnatic have just been on the big stage a lot more. Consistent results have resulted in their steady climb up to the CS:GO rankings, up to No. 5 in the world now. Complexity are ranked 17. While that isn’t anywhere near bad, they may not have the same level of quality.
