Some more of the best CS:GO players in the world return to action on Tuesday from the eighth season of the StarSeries i-League. Will s1mple and Jame lead their teams to wins against tricky opponents?
Natus Vincere (1.43)
It’s never advisable to bet against s1mple. He is one of the best CS:GO players in the world right now, in terms of form and experience. Na Vi have relied on his aggression for so long. He hasn’t let them down, helping Na Vi into the top 10 teams in the world. Electronic and Flamie have complemented him well, averaging 0.72 kills per round in the last three months of CS:GO. Na Vi are in pretty good touch too, having won four of their previous five matches, their only defeat coming at the hands of the resurgent Team Vitality.
Map handicap: Evil Geniuses -1.5 (1.18)
An atypical mismatch at the StarSeries i-League, Evil Geniuses are heavy favourites to cruise past 5Power Gaming, bereft of any form or confidence at the highest level of CS:GO. Brehze is one of very few gamers to have in excess of 0.80 kills per round (0.82). Cerq, Ethan and Tarik average about 0.70 kills per round together. EG have also won all of their five previous matches. Form, check. Confidence, check. Skill, check. Should be a rout.
Avangar have been one of the most-improved teams in the circuit. Ranking improvements hardly lie: Avangar have now jumped from mid-10s up to No. 6 in the world. In stark contrast, Heroic are lingering where Avangar were a few months ago, at 22 in the world.
Jame has been in sensational form, averaging 0.77 kills and 0.56 deaths per round. That means that he aids Avangar aggressively, but also holds his own under duress. In their previous meeting only a few days ago at the DreamHack Masters in Rotterdam, Avangar came away with a hard-fought 16-14 win.
Furia Esports (2.30)
Plopski v Hen1. Lekr0 v Kscerato. F0rest v Yuurih. NiP (ranked 11) v Furia (ranked 12). It’s all too close to make a confident call. When teams are evenly matched like this, it’s always a better option to back the team with the higher odds and therefore higher payout because the risk that goes in is nearly equal.
Furia have won three of their previous five matches, including wins against MIBR and Swole Patrol. They also have a favourable record in Train, having won eight of their previous 10 attempts in the map. The all-Brazilian roster of Furia will need to be at their best, but they certainly can overpower NiP.
