Evil Geniuses have confirmed the signing of Michał “MICHU” Müller. The Polish 24-year-old comes in to replace Tarik “tarik” Celik, who has elected to focus on “streaming and content creation” while he explores his options for the future. His departure marks an end to a 2-year tenure with the squad, having teamed up with Brehze, CeRq and Ethan in 2019.

MICHU has been a free agent since the disbandment of the EnVy roster in January. The Pole was one of the standout players on the roster alongside Buğra “Calyx” Arkın, posting a 1.09 rating in 74 maps for EnVy. He has long been hailed as one of the biggest talents in Poland and the Evil Geniuses organisation hopes he will fulfil his potential under their banner;

“Michał is a talented new addition to our roster and a player who is hungry to compete with the best.” Said Greg Kim, Director of Esports at Evil Geniuses in a statement on EG’s website.

“We look forward to seeing him integrate with the team and for our CS:GO team’s continued growth and success.”

MICHU will be making his debut for Evil Geniuses at the FunSpark ULTI 2020 Europe Final, starting April 19.

Why did tarik leave Evil Geniuses?

According to a recent twitlonger statement by tarik himself, the reason for his departure is that he had lost faith in the project and that there were disagreements on how to solve the underlying issues which had been plaguing the team.

“Our results as a team have been lackluster and led to the decision of me benching myself. By no means do I think I was playing well throughout the hardships but I believe that even with our new lineup that underlying issues had still existed. Ultimately, I had a different approach to our issues however the team didn’t agree with my views. I respect their decision but came to the conclusion that I shouldn’t be apart of a project which I had lost faith in.” tarik explained.

He went on to clarify that he cherished his time on Evil Geniuses and that he hopes they can be successful without him.

“I still hope they can come to see success again even if it is without me. We had many great memories and victories that we can cherish forever.”
