DWG Kia v Cloud9

Cloud9 (4.50)

If there is one team in this Group C that is just too strong for Cloud9, it is DWG Kia, reigning champions of the LoL World Championships. However, if you’re looking for a punt play, then Cloud9 is completely worth it. That’s because of the quality and skill in that team. On paper, DWG Kia seems too strong for Cloud9 but that can change quickly with one elemental dragon. Cloud9 will also be desperate to end this sub-par 1-2 start to Group C so far.

Personnel

Perkz has averaged three kills per game, which is below his standards. Zven has managed just 2.33 kills but he is leading Cloud9 in KDA (3.44). Vulcan has not managed even one kill yet. Fudge has been solid in the top lane, but it looks like Cloud9 will need more than just stability against a quality team like DWG Kia. If any team can just break down a team as good as DWG Kia, it is probably Cloud9. Hence, it is worth a strategic punt.

Infinity Esports v Detonation Focusme

Detonation Focusme (1.62)

Detonation Focusme are a decent team without being too flashy on the international scene. They have won one of three games so far at this tournament. They have shown their stability in the Japanese league, which has helped them earn this position at the MSI. Even Infinity Esports have the same record. This game will come down to which team can pick up the early dragon and move towards soul point. My bet would be on Detonation Focusme.

Personnel

Yutapon has led the kills for his team this season so far. He has averaged 3.67 kills per game along with 3.33 assists with a death rate of 1.67. Despite averaging just two kills per map, Steal has led his team in KDA this season (7.25). That’s primarily because he has kept his death rate low to just 1.33 per map.
