The LEC has reached its playoffs. Three matches are scheduled for this weekend, including a blockbuster clash between Mad Lions and G2 Esports.
We break down two of these games with predictions for you to consider on Picklebet.
G2 Esports (1.69)
G2 Esports finished the regular season of the summer split in sprightly fashion. They won five straight matches to climb rapidly to second on the points table with a 12-6 season record, tying them with Mad Lions. This is a team that has simply not found consistency in the playoffs or even in the regular season of the last few splits. That will impact their confidence but some momentum would have been revived with that run of success. Mad Lions are no pushovers but when you look at the lane dominance of the G2 team, it’s hard to see G2 losing too many team fights.
Rekkles has been the standout player, not just for G2 but also in the entire LEC. He has 5.28 kills, 1.11 deaths and 4.33 assists to earn himself a KDA of 8.65. He even has a team-leading creep score of 330.83. He has been helped out by Caps and Jankos, who have both averaged well over three kills per game. This level of offensive production will be hard to stop for Mad Lions, particularly in the lanes.
Even though there was just one position separating both these teams in the regular season of summer, there is far more than standings that differentiate these two. Fnatic have been far too strong, far too powerful for Team Vitality in several splits past, which will give them the confidence they require in a best-of-five encounter. Team Vitality finished sixth with an 8-10 record while Fnatic finished fifth with a 11-7 record. Team Vitality was the best of the rest while Fnatic was the worst of the best in summer. That tends to play out as expected in playoffs matches because in a best of five, the superior skill almost always wins out.
Like Rekkles for G2, it has been Upset for Fnatic, who has been in tearaway form. He registered 5 kills with 5.89 assists with a low death rate of just 1.17, giving him a KDA of 9.33 with a creep score of 310. Adam and Bwipo have chipped in with a kill rate of over three per game.
