The Worlds has moved along quite nicely, with some unexpected results already. The action continues on Tuesday with a few more games. We break down some teams to back for your bet slip.
G2 Esports (1.40)
G2 Esports have been in terrific form to start this event. They have won two straight games to start the group stage, and have done so in commanding fashion as well. Team Liquid have come through the play-in, which means they have played quite a few games as well. That will surely have an impact on their fatigue and confidence.
For G2, they have relied on the might of their powerful mid laner-bot laner combination in Caps and Perkz. Caps has averaged 6.5 kills along with 10.5 assists per game, giving him a kill participation of 17. Perkz isn’t far behind, with a kill participation of 15 per map. Wunder and Jankos have been incredibly steady too.
This will be your punt for the day. FlyQuest have been a steady team in the LCS, capable of upstaging almost any team, including Cloud9. They are certainly worthy competitors, even if their own roster might not be as skilled to sustain against a strong DragonX team. The pace of play of both leagues (the LCK for DragonX and the LCS for FlyQuest) is so entirely different, but that’s where the adaptability comes in. I reckon this will be a lot closer than these odds suggest. FlyQuest have started this event in middling fashion, but will be keen on ensuring their explosive stars (PowerOfEvil in the middle lane and WildTurtle in the bottom lane) are given the best chance of staging the upset.
Suning Gaming (1.30)
I would always look for the possibility of an upset before picking the favourite. It doesn’t always work, but that does increase the probability of backing the underdog in unpredictable games. In this match, Suning Gaming has just a bit too much. They have come off a morale-boosting win against Team Liquid on Monday, which will further increase their confidence. Machi Esports, on the other hand, have struggled right through. In fact, they couldn’t even put together one kill in their first game of the main stage.
