The LPL playoffs begin on Thursday with Rare Atom facing Invictus Gaming. We break down some picks for you to consider on Picklebet from the LPL.
Invictus Gaming (1.74)
No. 8 faces 9 in the first playoffs game of this spring split. Rare Atom finished the season with a few losses: they lost three straight matches to finish eighth in the regular season. Overall, they won 10 of 16 games. Invictus Gaming started strongly, then went through a sluggish period in the middle and then finished with three consecutive wins to end with a 9-7 record for the season. From a skill standpoint, Invictus Gaming have been a lot more consistent through the previous few splits. This will be a tight one, but Invictus should win eventually.
XUN has been Invictus’ standout performer, producing 4.47 kills along with 6.11 assists per game at a KDA of 4.24. Wink played only 20 maps, but provided a steady outlet of output of 4.25 kills and 6.2 assists per map. Rookie also chipped in with a kill participation of over 10 at a terrific KDA of 4.64.
Map handicap: Suning -2.5 (2.16)
Suning gained steam as they progressed in the split. They eventually used a three-game winning streak to finish seventh in the LPL with a 10-6 record. They won 64% of their maps as opposed to Rare Atom’s 58%, which was the tiebreaker. LNG Esports are a decent team but don’t quite match up with Suning on the same level of skill and offensive firepower. Suning will not be too pleased to finish the LPL at sixth after finishing second at the LoL Worlds last year. You might see them breeze past opponents in the early stages of the LPL playoffs. I’m backing Suning to win the first map and use that momentum to win the next two as well.
Suning have used only five players right through this LPL regular season, an impressive facet of a consistent team. Huanfeng has been their most prolific offensive player, providing 5.76 kills and 4.76 assists per map. He also has a sensational KDA of 8.46 and creep score of 331. Angel isn’t too far behind, with a KDA of 6.77.
