A while back, G2 made the shock announcement that they are benching kennyS in favour of JaCkz. The veteran AWPer has struggled, and it seems like the addition of NiKo furthered hampered his ability to perform. The addition of JaCkz should give the team a bit more balance, but it also means that NiKo will have to wield the AWP moving forward. We have often seen him AWP in the past and throughout his time on mousesports he was very impactful with the big green gun. The move should also give a player like huNter- a bit more room to shine, which is interesting. He was very impactful as a lurker on the previous iteration of G2, but like kennyS, he has had a dip in form recently. All-in-all, this is an interesting change. If this will help a player like huNter-, I see this being a positive change.

Vitality just announced that they are dropping Nivera and returning to a five-man roster. Nivera was very impressive throughout his time on Vitality and I would not be surprised if they started having worse results on Inferno, in particular. Regardless, they will continue to be a top-side moving forward and they are certainly still the favourites of this group.

mousesports finished in a disappointing 13th-14th place at IEM Katowice. However, it is worth mentioning that this was their first-ever tournament with dexter as the IGL. The Australian struggled individually early on in the tournament and ended on a negative 0.77 rating, something which he isn’t quite used to having been one of the most impactful players on Renegades. With that said, they will have had some time to iron out the kinks and there is enough individual skill on the roster to compete with the likes of G2, NiP and FaZe for that final spot in the playoffs.

ENCE will be playing this tournament with their new roster which has only been together for a months time. Only allu is left standing from the original ENCE side that made it to a major final. They have instead decided to go the international route, picking up dycha, Snappi and Spinx. dycha was an impressive player throughout his time on Sprout and Spinx is a player who has a lot of growth potential. This isn’t a bad roster by any stretch, but they are likely going to need some time to get into the swing of things. I would be surprised if they make playoffs here considering the teams that they are going up against.

NiP now have a couple of tournaments under their belt with ztr, who was promoted from the academy team. They have beaten some impressive competition such as Astralis, BIG and, but they have been unable to replicate that sort of performance in the latter stages of tournaments. The Ninjas are a bit of a wild-card in this competition as they are very unpredictable. They have enough upside to snatch one of the playoff spots over a team like FaZe or mousesports but they are going to need a lot of things to go their way.

FaZe didn’t exactly have the best showing at IEM Katowice, losing out to both Liquid and FURIA to get knocked out early in the competition. However, this was their first tournament with karrigan who will have had some time to make some adjustments since then. It is a bit worrying that coldzera had a sub-par performance since he is likely going to have to be one of the key players of this roster if they want to be a contender for trophies. With that said, I trust karrigan’s in-game leading ability and he should be able to make this team tick sooner or later.
