Road To The Grand Finals

Team Liquid highlighted their candidacy for the title when they defeated Team Secret 2-0 in the third round of the losing bracket, knocking out the team that has won the last eight major Dota 2 tournaments in the Europe / CIS region. In the finals of the lower bracket, for the third time in the tournament, they faced underdog team Mudgolems led by MiLAN and BoraNija, and this time Liquid was more successful with another 2-0 triumph in a row.

As for the final itself, Team Liquid was convincing in the first two games and it seemed that it would easily reach a 3-0 stop. Still, Natus Vincere managed to consolidate and stop Team Liquid in the third game, but in the end they couldn’t make a complete turnaround. The decisive fourth game was marked by several mistakes of both teams, and in the end Team Liquid managed to make better use of the opponent’s mistakes and put an end to the grand final with another victory.

Tournament MVP

As one of the best individuals and captains in the ESL One Germany, iNSaNiA was named the MVP of ESL One Germany 2020, taking home the brand new Mercedes Benz.

“I think a lot of times in the past we have been playing with a fear of losing. But we finally overcame that hump and decided to just play to win. That was the biggest thing I think made our games feel a lot easier and made it feel like we had a better idea of what to do”, iNSaNiA said.

The Downfall Of Team Secret

Yes, another big Dota 2 event is over, and Team Secret are not champions. From the biggest favourites of the tournament to the biggest flop of the tournament. Team Secret had a perfect group stage run. With 3 straight 2-0 wins, we thought this is another Team Secret moment and championship. However, in the playoffs they showed a lot of weaknesses and a really bad play. Losing to Mudgolems and to Team Liquid couldn’t go unnoticed. Team Secret were out of the tournament even before semifinals. After 7 championships and titles in a row, they didn’t make it to their 8th. Only 4th place for them in this season’s ESL One Germany 2020. Big disappointed and the biggest outright bet fell apart.
