We are reaching the final stages of the IEM Beijing group stage. We break down today's lower bracket matches, including an even match between NiP and BIG.
BIG Map 2 (1.74)
This is one of many even matchups today, with NiP coming in as just a slight underdog at the writing of this article. The winner of this match will advance to the quarter-finals, so the stakes are high. NiP have been playing well recently, but BIG will be a tough test for them. The Germans are very capable on Nuke and Dust2, which makes this a difficult matchup for NiP. The Ninjas have a 21.4% win rate on Nuke over fourteen games. BIG on the other hand, have won their last three games on this map, beating teams like Vitality, mousesports and ENCE. While NiP have looked good and could definitely take this series, I think BIG are heavily favored to take their map choice unless they botch the veto.
G2 ML (1.66) or G2 Map 2 (1.66)
mousesports have lost four out of their last five games heading into this matchup with G2, who have looked pretty solid so far with NiKo. It will be interesting to see how the veto plays out in this one. Dust2 has been a terrible map for mousesports so far, and it is one of G2’s most picked maps so far since they picked up NiKo. It might be worth it for mousesports to gamble a bit in the veto and ban Dust2 straight out of the gate instead of going for their usual perma-ban of Overpass, which G2 have yet to play with their new roster. If they don’t, I think G2 are heavily favoured to win this series.
