ESL One Cologne is heating up! We give you some tips for tonight's semi-final action.
Over 2.5 Maps (1.87)
Heroic and G2 have faced off two times so far this year, and the map veto has played out the exact same in all three meetings. Nuke has been the map choice of Heroic, while G2 have opted for Vertigo, leaving Mirage as the decider. Both of these games went the distance, with Heroic and G2 both taking a map win apiece. G2 got the better of Heroic in the group stage, but I actually like the Danes chances of revenging that loss here in the semi-finals. They may not be as experienced as G2, but if they show the same type of hunger that they had in their quarter-finals win against Complexity, they will have a great shot at winning this series.
Over 2.5 Maps (1.90)
NiP really came out swinging versus Astralis, sweeping the Danes after wins on Train and Inferno. The interesting part here is that NiP opted to ban Nuke straight out of the gate in this one, leaving Astralis with the option of Inferno. This used to be an excellent map for Astralis, but without Xyp9x and gla1ve holding it down in banana, they found it very difficult to deal with NiP’s quick executes. While NiP were able to find a creative solution in the veto against Astralis, it will be a far more difficult task against Vitality, who are strong on both Nuke and Dust2. Regardless of how you slice it, Vitality will be a big favorite here on their map choice. However, that doesn’t mean that NiP are completely dead in the water, since I would expect them to pick Mirage, which is probably Vitality’s weakest map in the pool right now. I think both teams have what it takes to win their own map choice, making the over the most interesting option. However, I would keep the map win odds in mind, as well.
