OGA Dota PIT Season 3: Europe/CIS - Preview

OGA Dota PIT is returning to Europe/CIS for a third season this year. Initially scheduled as a Minor from the Dota Pro Circuit season, the tournament had to be reformed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which seems to be working for the organizers. The closed qualifier started on September 20.

The best of the best European and CIS team can be seen in this list, which is a great setup for an exciting tournament.

The EU/CIS Dota scene continues to flourish even amid the continued suspension of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), with the region’s first BTS Pro Series event for tier two teams also happening this month and Season 2 of the OMEGA League Immortal Division set for October. Aside from the first two seasons of its EU/CIS league, OGA Dota PIT also previously hosted online leagues for the Americas and China.

Team Nigma: Defending The OGA Dota Pit Title

Nigma are the current champions of OGA Dota PIT as they won Season 2 in a nail-biting best of b5 series against Alliance which went to the last game. Team Secret decided to take a break during this event, which is not going to be the case this time. Will Nigma be able to defend their title or the champions of Season 1, Team Secret, will “lift the trophy” (due to COVID-19 there won’t be an actual trophy lifting ceremony, obviously) for a second time this year? Only time will tell but if we have to take a wild guess the odds are in Secret’s favor.

The Favorites for the Event

Let’s face it, Team Secret have been on an unbreakable win streak as they’ve won the last 7 tournaments they attended. Most recently they won the OMEGA League Europe Immortal division where the opposition included everyone that’s about to play in the OGA Dota Pit Season 3. The only team to take a single game from Secret during the OMEGA League were OG. Will we see a different outcome this time? We highly doubt it, as Secret has shown us a solid and consistent performance in the last few months. It’s pretty clear they have something that other teams are lacking. With Secret dominating any and all regional events which they have participated in this year, it will be interesting to see if any of these teams can stop them and cause a major upset. They are the biggest favourite to take this tournament, their 8th in a row.
