Vici Gaming v Royal Never Give Up

Royal Never Give Up (1.66)

Royal Never Give Up opened their summer season in sprightly form. All their players turned up to deliver a 2-0 opening win. There have been several roster changes for this Royal Never Give Up team, led by Uzi’s retirement from professional League of Legends. Betty stood up in a big way as ADC in the split opener. RNG finished seventh in the spring split after winning 20 of 38 maps to split their series evenly 8-8. Vici Gaming began with a 2-0 win against Bilibili Gaming as well but they might find this RNG team to be a different kettle of fish.

Personnel

Betty and XLB both contributed with 11 kills in the season opener. This ADC-mid laner combination will be the key to RNG’s season moving forward considering there have been some roster changes. Xiaohu also chipped in with 10 kills in that game. They have started fluently, which will bode well for their confidence.

Suning Gaming v JD Gaming

JD Gaming (1.21)

JD Gaming will open their summer season on Wednesday against Suning. They will be buoyed after a fantastic performance in the playoffs of the spring split. They finished the regular season of that campaign with a 12-4 series record, positioned second in the standings. They then carried on that form in the playoffs, which eventually culminated in winning the title after beating Top Esports 3-2 in the final. That level of confidence might be too hard to handle for Suning, who have started the season well. Suning might win a map but I can’t see them winning two in this game.

Personnel

Interestingly, JD Gaming’s jungler Kanavi was their most prolific offensive player, averaging 4.18 kills a game. Next on that list was their AD Carry Loken, who had a kill participation of 10 (4 kills and 6 assists per game). Mid laner Yagao aided and abetted that stellar production with 3.67 kills of his own, carrying JD Gaming through. JD Gaming used six players through the entirety of the spring split.
