The first round of this weekend’s LEC action includes several mismatches, with a few chances for an upset too. We take a look at which matches you might want to avoid and which to enter a stake in.
FC Schalke 04 (1.96)
This is an interesting match-up for several reasons. Misfits have started the LEC in sprightly fashion, winning both games during the previous weekend. Schalke, on the other hand, are yet to win a match this season. Their losing streak extends to six matches, dating back to September last year. However, Schalke seem to have the edge over Misfits in their long history. Schalke have won their last five games against this opponent, which means that their losing run could end at the start of the weekend.
A multi of Fnatic and G2 (combined odds of 1.51)
These are two of the best teams in the entire European LoL circuit. This is a statement that is backed by years of wins and experience drawn on during the Worlds. G2 are unbeaten this season in four matches, while Fnatic have lost just the one. There is plenty of skill and depth in both these rosters, which makes this double quite an attractive proposition.
Mad Lions (1.42)
SK Gaming made a strong start to the season, beating Vitality. However, they have faded away since that result, falling to three straight losses. That run of form will hurt their confidence going into a tough game against one of the more confident teams in the LEC this season. Mad Lions have played just four matches in the history of the LEC, and have won two of those, including wins against Vitality and Schalke 04. Another solid performance should see Mad Lions stretch that winning run to three matches.
Team Vitality (4.40)
There is no doubt that Origen are clear favourites in this contest. They are confident, in form and have plenty of momentum. However, of all the games during this round, this has the highest propensity for an upset. Vitality have not yet won this season. In fact, their losing streak is now nine matches. They did enjoy a solid run of form prior to that, which included a win against Origen in July last year in this competition. Worth a punt.
