Here is a League of Legends round-up with some predictions from Wednesday’s games, including the LPL and the LCK summer promotion.
Invictus Gaming (1.83)
There is no doubt that Invictus Gaming were the best team during this season’s LPL. They won’t be winning this tournament but there is plenty at stake in the third-place game against FunPlus Phoenix. They finished the season with a 14-2 series record and also won 28 of 39 games in the spring split.
Invictus Gaming were blessed right through the split to have strong offensive players, led by Puff who had 5.18 kills per game. He was well supported by mid laner Rookie’s 4.13 kills and top laner TheShy’s three-plus kills. This all-round proficiency has been hard to match for any team.
Seorabeol Gaming (1.70)
Seorabeol Gaming have been quite stunning through this year. Their consistency has been unparalleled in the CK in Korea. In fact, they have needed just five players through the year, with each of their players performing well. They went one map down to LCK team Griffin on Tuesday but came storming back to take the match 2-1. That should aid their confidence.
Sangyoon was solid in the tournament opener with 10 kills in three maps as ADC. Mid laner Danchung didn’t quite find his best but he was bailed out by a strong support team, including KaKao and Thal.
Both LCK teams were beaten by CK teams in their summer promotion tournament openers. That pushed them both directly to the losers’ bracket. Griffin were looking set to win against Seorabeol but couldn’t stave off a resurgent team. They were actually quite solid in that game, particularly in the first map. They at least have some semblance of momentum.
Ucal and Viper managed a combined seven kills per game against Seorabeol Gaming. On most occasions, that would have been enough against upcoming CK teams. They couldn’t quite close out that game though. That same mid laner-ADC combination will be tasked with taking Griffin through in this game.
