fnatic announces plans to go international following the benching of JW
The fnatic organisation has benched Jesper “JW” Wecksell after a string of poor performances. The Swedish team is now down to a roster of three, after Maikil “Golden” Selim was benched earlier this month. It is still yet to be determined what will happen with the rest of the roster, but Andreas Samuelsson, Coach and team director of fnatic, insists that the plans are to transition to an international roster.
“After six weeks of deep evaluations and hard work, we have decided to bench Jesper,” Andreas Samuelsson stated. “We have spent tons of hours deciding which route we are going to take to bring back fnatic to where we belong, and the final decision is to change to an international lineup.”
JW has hinted at a potential move to Valorant in a brief statement on twitter, a game which we have seen the likes of NBK- and others explore after they were let go by their respective organisations. As one of the game’s most decorated players, JW should have no issues finding a team in Riot’s shooter. The 26-year old Swede has a trophy cabinet that would make anyone jealous, a three time major winner with fnatic and he has taken down some of the game’s most prestegious events, such as IEM Katowice in 2015, 2016 and 2018.
