Division 2 Results

Division 2 featured a $15,000 prize pool and 8 teams from the bottom of the Group Stage rankings. After 7 days of double elimination bracket playoffs, PuckChamp were crowned as the champions. In the exciting best of 3 series grand finals, they beat Prosti Esli with a clean 2-0 result.

Here are final Division 2 standings:

  • 1st PuckChamp - $6,000
  • 2nd Prosti Esli - $4,000
  • 3rd Team Unique - $2,000
  • 4th EXTREMUM - $1,000
  • 5th-6th VP.Prodigy, Team Empire - $600
  • 7th-8th Hellbear Smashers, RUSSIANDRILL - $400

PuckChamp were not one of the top favourites for sure. After Hellbear Smashers performance in the Snow Sweet Snow tournament and their title, they were the main contenders here. However, they’ve given up from the tournament and they decided not to participate. PuckChamp were the best team, the team that made the best progress in their gameplay in the recent win, and their win was deserved. Teams like Unique and Prosti Esli that we wrote about in a Review of the Division 2 article a few weeks back, made far too. Prosli Esli and Unique were underdogs in the tournament that we forecasted to go really far. Both teams ended up in top 3, so we weren’t so far away with our predictions.

Division 1 Results

We watched some heavyweight teams in the Division 1 of the EPIC League. With an $85,000 prize pool, the tournament featured top 8 teams from the tournaments Group Stage. After 6 days of matches, Vikin.gg were crowned as champions. They were better than Team Spirit, beating them with a 3-1 in the best of 5 grand finals.

Here are final Division 1 standings:

  • 1st Vikin.gg - $20,000
  • 2nd Team Spirit - $15,000
  • 3rd High Coast Esports - $12,000
  • 4th Tundra Esports - $10,000
  • 5th-6th HellRaisers, Brame - $8,000
  • 7th-8th Dota Team, Winstrike Team - $6,000

Even though we predicted Vikin.gg’s victory here, it came in a very unfashioned way. Vikin.gg played 2 matches vs Team Spirit in 2 different tournaments in the meantime, and they didn’t manage to win a single map. Spirit won 2-0 and 3-0 in the other match, and they were big favourites in the grand finals of the EPIC League too. Especially since it was the best of 5 series. They had a much more chance to do that. They started good, had a 1-0 lead, but after that it all fell apart. 3 maps in a row for Vikin.gg and they showed who is the best tier 2 team in Europe.
