As the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit’s first season of regional leagues ended and we enter a dead period before the ONE Esports Singapore Major, EPIC League Season 3 is one of several events to fill the void.

Group Stage

16 teams have entered the tournament, 14 with a direct invite and 2 teams from the qualifiers. Those 16 teams were representing the best of the European / CIS tier 2 and tier 3 teams and organizations. All teams were placed in the group stage where they fought for the placement and position in Division 1 or Division 2 of the event. The top 8 teams from the group stage qualified for the Division 1 and will fight for the $85,000 prize pool, while bottom 8 teams from the group stages qualified for Division 2 with a $15,000 prize pool.

We are here to explain and to give a small introduction to Division 2 teams and brackets that are starting today.

EPIC League Season 3 Division 2

Eight teams from the Group Stage are participating in the Division 2. Eight teams that ended at the bottom of the Group Stage play. Division 2 will be played in a playoff settings with double elimination brackets, while all matches will be played in the best of 3 format.

The participating teams are as follows:

  • Hellbear Smashers
  • Team Unique
  • Team Empire
  • PuckChamp
  • Prosti Esli
  • RussianDrill
  • VP.Prodigy

This is a really interesting list of teams to begin with. EXTREMUM and VP.Prodigy are the only 2 teams that are coming to this Division 2 stage without a single win in the Group Stage. PuckChamp, Prosti Esli and RussianDrill managed to get a single win out of 4 matches they’ve played, while other teams were ranked above with 2 wins and 3 losses (Empire, Unique, Hellbear Smashers).

The playoff bracket looks like this:

PickleBet Predictions

We believe that Hellbear Smashers are the favourites to take the Division 2 championship. Even though they did a very bad job in the group stage, they are surely the best team out of the worst that are here. Recently they’ve won Snow Sweet Snow #2 championship with a strong 3-1 win vs in the grand finals. Even though they have very unstable plays sometimes, their roster has the highest quality. If we need to pick an underdog for this, we could name two. Prosti Esli and Team Unique are teams that stand out and are teams that can make a shocking and surprising performance. Unique is looking better and better and Prosti Esli has really a unique combination of players that can prove fruitful for them.
