ESL One Birmingham 2020 - Online: Europe & CIS is Dota 2 tournament featuring the best teams from EU and CIS regions battling it out for the $200.000 prize pool. In the next 10 days we will follow the tournaments and analyse the most interesting matches.
Team Secret -1.5 @ 1.31
What to say about Team Secret? After winning the OGA Dota Pit flawlessly without losing a game, they are coming into this tournament as the biggest favourites once again. In their last 5 matches, they have 5 wins and an incredible 100% map win ratio, which means they didn’t lose a map. Hardly anyone can take a map off them, and it seems like they will continue to be dominant in this tournament too.
We haven’t seen Gambit for quite some time now, as they’ve entered this tournament with a changed lineup with Blizzy and yol playing instead of fng (who is on loan to Alliance and Shachlo). There is no doubt here for me who will take this match. Secret are clear favourites and they should win vs Gambit with 2-0. I don’t see Gambit’s lineup do anything special in this tournament.
NiP -1.5 @ 1.54
In the opening match of the group stage NiP celebrated their 2-1 win vs Alliance. They looked really good and I am not sure how Winstrike can beat them. Winstrike ended up in this competition instead of Team Spirit who gave up their slot. If we look at Winstrike’s match history, we see that their results are terrible. In the last 5 matches they have only 1 win vs tier 2 CIS team Khan.
NiP has losses vs VP, Secret and OG, but all those matches were close and they are playing top tier EU dota at the moment for sure. Winstrike already has 1 loss in this league, a 1-2 loss vs Cyber Legacy. NiP are heavy favourites here, and there should be some nice value in a 2-0 NiP bet.
Nigma @ 1.73
Overall, both teams are not looking good lately. Nigma even skipped the OGA Dota Pit tournament, I guess to focus more on practice and adjusting to the new patch. They have a top tier lineup, but they still haven’t utilized it. NaVi just made a change to their lineup, replacing CemaTheSlayer with Belorussian player “so bad” (ex Unique and Vega Squadron). Will that help them to play better? I’m not so sure, as they still have a lot of work on their play.
Yes, NaVi showed a glimpse of hope and good games lately vs OG and Virtus.Pro which they have won, but is there enough coming into this new tournament? We will see. Both teams still haven’t played any official matches in this tournament, and this will be a very interesting match. I would give a slight chance to Nigma to take this match. I love their lineup, and hopefully they will show us why they have won The International. Nice odds on Nigma ML.
HellRaisers +1.5 @ 2.03
Their last and only official match was 24 days ago, where VP.Prodigy celebrated a 2-1 win. However, since then VP.Prodigy has been upsetting the European Dota 2 scene with their games, matches and results. They have won Epic Prime League over their main team, Virtus.Pro (3-0). They have been beating Virtus.Pro, Team Spirit and FlyToMoon recently and they showed really good in-game coordination and play.
Lately HellRaiers have been in terrible form, and just a few days ago they started to climb back from their 5 match lose streak. With a win vs Khan, Winstrike and most recently, a dominant 2-0 win over FlyToMoon, they showed they are still top CIS team. VP.Prodigy are big favourites here, but when I see those odds on HR +1.5 handicap, there is nothing to think about. HellRaisers are definitely capable of taking a map off VP.Prodigy and surprising them, especially if they repeat their last play vs FlyToMoon.
