As we move deeper into TI9, the context of each match gains more significance. We take a look at the teams from TI9 and the rest of the esports world that have an edge over their opponents on August 20th/21st.

Dota 2 TI9: Mineski v Natus Vincere

Mineski (1.87)

Mineski will be confident in their matchup against NaVi, particularly after Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung took over as coach of the Dota 2 franchise. Mineski will also be buoyed by their form after strong performances against Liquid, Secret and TNC Predator in the lead-up to this encounter.

On the other end of the form spectrum lies Na’Vi, who were also previously beaten by Mineski in their only meeting at ESL One in Mumbai. Odds of 1.87 for Mineski should undoubtedly add significant value to your accumulator.

Dota 2 TI9: Infamous v Keen Gaming

Infamous (1.80)

TI9 is arguably the biggest stage in esports. Yet Infamous seem least perturbed by the weight of the occasion. Their fearlessness and aggression right from the outset has showed more stable teams the way to a fan’s heart. That might be a crucial factor in this game considering Keen will have the home crowd on their side.

Keen have followed suit, taking a punt with Phantom Assassin as their carry, albeit to varying levels of efficiency. Not much separate these two teams, but Infamous might just have a slight edge on account due to their confidence.

LoL Ultraliga Season, Playoffs: Rogue Esports Club v Devils. One

Rogue Esports Club (1.15)

The sheer size of the Rogue esports franchise has held their Ultraliga roster in good stead with a steady influx of investment and capital. Take Kim “Profit” Jun-hyung for example. He has brought plenty of experience from the League of Legends European Championship into this Rogue Esports Club.

Confidence, check. Form, check. Skill, check. Rogue Esports Club should be an obvious choice in your bet slip for August 20.

Dota 2 TI9: Multi with OG (1.23), Vici Gaming (1.44), and Team Secret (1.39) (Combined odds: 2.48)

OG have been on a tear to start TI9. They didn’t lose a single BO2 series and ended up with a record of 6-2-0 to finish the group stage. They have pulled out some interesting team comps and Ana going to town on NiP with Wisp was a sight to behold. That will be abused in pubs in the coming months. I’m expecting a swift 2-0 by OG, Newbee are talented but I think OG has too much firepower.

We tipped Vici Gaming to win the whole tournament back in our TI9 Preview Article and we are backing them here as well. TNC Predator had a few convincing wins against some good teams this season and in the group stage, including Team Liquid. It will most likely be a 3 game series but TNC is looking like they are struggling to close out games and Vici will get rolling and become the force of nature that has allowed them to be one of the top 3 teams this season.

There’s a reason that Secret finished number 1 on the DPC ladder this season. Their masterful execution and knowledge of consecutive patches have allowed them to hold the top spot for most of the season. Evil Geniuses and Secret have clashed a few times this season, with Secret coming out on top for most of the matches. However, Secret have been struggling against lesser opponents over the last month or two. History dictates that Secret will win this, but it could be a hard fought 3 game series if EG decides to show up.
