We break down three of today's matches, including why Gen.G might have a shot at the upset against FURIA in the upper-bracket.
Sprout +1.5 (1.58)
Sprout shocked the world by upsetting BIG in the first round, and they are now set to take on OG. These two teams faced off at the cs_summit 6 qualifiers, where OG came out on top in a three map series. Considering their history and the online factor, I don’t particularly mind taking a stab on Sprout in this spot.
Astralis are coming off an impressive win against fnatic, while Vitality easily dispatched of Heretics in theirs. This is pretty much a pick’em at current odds, and it is very hard to call. The map veto is somewhat favorable for Vitality if we go by past history between these two teams, with Dust2 and Nuke being likely, but it is still unclear how strong Astralis’ map pool will be with this new roster. This one could go either way, but I am gonna slightly edge this one in favor of the Frenchmen.
Gen.G +1.5 (1.55)
FURIA have been one of the best teams in North America recently, but there are two teams that have given them a fair bit of trouble. Those two teams are Evil Geniuses and Gen.G. FURIA have faced off against Gen.G four times in BO3s, and have lost three of those. They were able to beat them rather convincingly the last time they met, so perhaps the Brazilians have finally figured them out, but Gen.G are certainly interesting at the longer number.
