The world No. 3 Evil Geniuses, runners-up of the DreamHack Masters Malmo Team Vitality and other top CS:GO teams are in action at the ESL Pro League on Saturday. We delve into the props that should make your bet slip.
Map handicap: Team Vitality (-1.5) (1.62)
Led by Zywoo’s splendid form, Team Vitality are one of the hottest teams in CS:GO currently. They beat Mousesports and Natus Vincere en route to a runners-up finish at the DreamHack Masters in Malmo. That run saw them climb to No. 6 on the world rankings.
Zywoo has averaged 0.82 kills and 0.62 deaths per round in the last three months of CS:GO. The head-to-head match-up is extremely in favour of Vitality too. In 10 maps against each other, Vitality have won eight. That should be reason enough to take Vitality to win without dropping a map.
Total maps: Over 2.5 (1.96)
The odds are stacked well in favour of Ninjas in Pyjamas in this contest. However, this may be a lot tighter than many think. Heroic, although ranked no. 28 in the world, are coming into this game on the back of a terrific run of form that has seen them win their previous five matches, including victories against Avangar and Virtus.pro. Heroic haven’t dropped a map in their last five wins. That streak may end in this game against the superior NiP, but they should also win a map.
Despite not having the richest history in CS:GO, Cloud9 are a popular, proud esports franchise. They have a middling roster as is evidenced by their world ranking of 26. Still, they have plenty of experience and a developing team to rely upon. Complexity, on the other hand, don’t have either. They haven’t even played too much professional Counter Strike since July this year. Odds of 1.67 for Cloud9 would ensure a solid return.
Correct score (in maps): Evil Geniuses 2-0 (1.40)
This game is plausibly the biggest mismatch from Saturday’s round of ESL Pro League action. EG have climbed rapidly up the CS:GO rankings, up to No. 3 now, behind only Astralis and Liquid. This ascent was a direct result of Evil Geniuses beating Astralis to win the ESL One New York not too long ago.
Brehze and Cerq have led that turnaround, with consistent aggressive performances at the highest level. EUnited don’t have any noteworthy result to speak of in their recent run of form, which means a straight-maps victory for EG is the most likely result.
