Will Spirit continue to impress, or will their journey end here? We break down today's playoff games in DreamHack Masters Spring 2020.
fnatic and Complexity have faced off twice before, and it is fnatic who has come out on top, winning both series by a 2–0 scoreline. The last meeting between these two teams was a close one, with both maps going all 30 rounds. fnatic are coming off a tough loss to Vitality where they failed to break double digits on both maps, while Complexity just won Home Sweet Home Cup 6 and 7. Complexity have shown better form recently, but fnatic will be a big step up in competition compared to most of the games that they have played recently, and I personally favor the Swedes here due to their overall pedigree and the match history between these two teams.
Over 2.5 Maps (1.86)
Spirit have really impressed so far in DreamHack Masters, and if it wasn’t for an unfortunate power outage in a crucial part of their match against FaZe, they could have won the group without dropping a single match. The Danes from MAD Lions are coming off a loss to ENCE, but they looked pretty solid before that, taking down several big names such as fnatic and mousesports. Both of these teams have pretty solid map pools, and I would not be surprised to see this one going the distance.
1st Map Over 26.5 Rounds (1.86)
Vitality are in fantastic form right now, qualifying for the BLAST Spring Finals after beating all three Swedish top teams (fnatic, NiP and Dignitas) in BO3s. The French side will be a big favorite here against the Danes of Heroic, but I do think that Heroic can make them sweat a little bit due to their respective map pools. The fact that Heroic likes playing Overpass helps them quite a bit, since this one of few maps where Vitality have looked a bit susceptible to an upset. Heroic are also fairly strong on several of Vitality’s comfort picks, such as Nuke and Vertigo, giving them a decent chance at making this competitive.
