BLAST Spring Showdown: NiP vs. Vitality

Over 2.5 Maps (1.90)

Vitality are coming off a very impressive 2–0 sweep over fnatic, and they will hope to take down yet another Swedish team in the form of NiP in the semi-finals. These two teams have faced off very frequently throughout the year, playing five BO3s against each other. Vitality had a clear edge at the start of the year, winning the first two matches in convincing fashion. The map veto played out in the exact same way in these two games, with Vitality opting for Nuke and NiP picking Vertigo. After two clean sweeps by Vitality, NiP opted to go a different route in the map veto, picking Overpass instead of Vertigo. This has proven to be a far more successful strategy, as they won this map against Vitality both times in ESL One: One Road to Rio.

If NiP can take this series to a decider, they will have a great chance at the upset with Inferno being the most probable map. They destroyed Vitality on Inferno in the group stage of ESL One: Road to Rio, and narrowingly lost Inferno in overtime in the playoffs. However, in their most recent match, they bizarrely opted to ban Nuke and let Dust2 through in the map veto, and then picked Vertigo instead of Overpass. This led to a dominant victory by Vitality, and if they choose to go down this path again, I see Vitality taking this series once more. For NiP, it completely comes down to their map choice, as Vitality have a clear edge on maps like Nuke and Dust2. My advice would be to wait just before kickoff when the map veto is announced and then pick Vitality to win their map pick. But if NiP picks Overpass, I see this series going three maps with NiP having an excellent shot at the upset on the decider.

BLAST Spring Showdown: Gen.G vs. Evil Geniuses

Gen.G (2.17)

Gen.G are coming off a loss to FURIA, but they will still have a shot at qualifying for the Spring Finals in this third-place match against Evil Geniuses. Gen.G have proven to be the superior side in this matchup so far, winning their last two meetings with Evil Geniuses by a 2–1 scoreline. Both of these teams have looked suspect recently, but I would favor Gen.G at the longer number due to how this matchup has played out in the past.
