BLAST Spring Showdown: Vitality vs. Dignitas

Vitality -1.5 (1.85) or Dignitas 1st Map +4.5 (1.68)

Vitality are coming off a surprising loss to sAw, while Dignitas were comfortably beaten by their long-time rivals fnatic in their last match. Vitality are coming in as a big favorite to win this match, and it is easy to see why when you look at the map pools of these respective teams. It is hard to see a way for Dignitas to get an edge on any of the maps in this series. Vitality comfortably won against Dignitas by a score of 2–0 in ESL One: Road to Rio, and Nuke and Dust2 were the maps in that series. I would suspect that we end up on the same set of maps again, and both maps are favorable for Vitality. The Dignitas core four has always been strong on Nuke, but the same goes for Vitality. Dust2 is clearly in favor of the French side, with Dignitas holding just a 20% win rate over 10 maps. Their only two wins on Dust2 were incredibly close as well (16–14) vs fnatic and Heretics. Vitality to win this series 2–0 is a reasonable bet considering the map pools, but I do think that Dignitas can make them sweat a little bit on their map choice, making the 1st map handicap a viable option, as well.

BLAST Spring Showdown: Gen.G vs. Triumph

Over 26.5 rounds (1.88)

Triumph came into this tournament as a big underdog, but they have continued to prove people wrong with solid performances, defeating Cloud9 and finding draws against both Evil Geniuses and 100 Thieves. Gen.G came out on top when these two teams faced off in ESL One: Road to Rio this year, but Triumph were able to find a win on Dust2 in that series. All of Triumph’s games so far have been reasonably close, with two 15–15 draws and 29 rounds in a win against Cloud9, making the over an interesting bet.

BLAST Spring Showdown: MIBR vs. Cloud9

Over 2.5 maps (1.86)

Cloud9 and MIBR have faced off three times before, and two of these series went to a decider. Their match in ECS Season 8 last year could easily have gone to three maps, as well, if it wasn’t for some overtime heroics by MIBR on Mirage. Many of these maps have been fairly one-sided, as well, proving that both teams aren’t resilient enough to come back from a big deficit. MIBR are looking strong with the addition of trk, giving them a slight in this matchup, but this could definitely be a close series, making the over a reasonable bet.
