Despite PSG.LGD’s reputation, this minor tournament is a major win for the team this year. PSG.LGD’s 2020 roster struggled to dominate the rankings since The International 2019. Two-time TI champions OG Esports is their nemesis. After the struggle, PSG.LGD are slowly making their way to the top - starting with the Chinese competitive scene. PSG.LGD faced Royal Never Give Up and Invictus Gaming, two of the best regional and international teams, to make it to the grand finals and meet Vici Gaming.

The odds were against PSG.LGD as Vici managed to defeat them 2-0 in the last rounds of the group stage, but the winning team is determined to prevent history from repeating itself. The two teams were in a close fight in games one and two. In the first game, Yang “Chalice” Shenyi and Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun were trapped in a 1v1 situation. With Chalice’s help, PSG.LGD earned the early advantage to secure a much higher number of kills. However, Vici was more consistent; their overall performance sealed the deal.

In the second game, Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao singlehandedly crushed Vici with Queen of Pain’s 30,000 hero damage. It only took PSG.LGD over 20 minutes to close out game two. Game three showed us one-sided performances in favor of PSG.LGD. All of Vici’s members were cornered by PSG.LGD’s. Vici had no much against Somnus’ Dragon Knight and Chalice’s Lifestealer, but it was new player Ren “eLeVeN” Yangwei who finished the fight.

The tables turned in games four. Vici’s members have a few tricks up their sleeves, and they finally found an opening. Paparazi’s Faceless Void and Ori’s Huskar - both unconventional picks, quickly ended the match in favor of Vici.

Tied at 2-2, PSG.LGD started to feel the pressure. The team, however, is determined to win the title and defeat Vici. Somnus came back with his Dragon Knight, while Chalice picked up Slark. The two picks were backed by Ogre Magi and Windranger. With all these strategic picks and more, PSG.LGD found their way to victory.
