Beyond the Summit has announced that the American division of the BTS Pro Series will return for a third season, featuring ten teams from North and South America battling for a $50,000 prize pool. The tournament will run from September 7-22, kicking off with a group stage from September 7-18 followed by the playoffs from September 19-22. North America will be represented by Quincy Crew, Business Associates, CR4ZY, and 4 Zoomers. Meanwhile, South America will be represented by Beastcoast, Thunder Predator, Infamous, Havan Liberty, and Team Brazil. There is one more team joining the event, as the last spot is filled from Open Qualifiers. That team is Infinity Esports.

Interesting Fact

Evil Geniuses, the top team in North America are notably absent from the list of participating teams for season three. Evil Geniuses won the first season of the BTS Pro Series. BTS Pro Series Americas Season 3 is notably a welcome event for the North and South American Dota 2 scenes, the two regions that have suffered the most from the Dota Pro Circuit’s continued suspension. With The International 2020 and the DPC not expected to happen any time this year, many of the players, teams, and organizations in the two regions have struggled to continue operations. The third season of Beyond the Summit’s online league for the Americas should help the teams in both regions continue competing and keep the competitive scene alive.

Road To The Grand Finals

We will watch 12 days of group stage matches. 10 teams will fight in the single round robin best of 2 matches in the group stage. Top four teams will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, while 5th to 8th placed teams will advance to the lower bracket of the playoffs. Bottom two teams will be eliminated. We will see a standard double elimination bracket in the playoffs, with the best of 5 grand finals.

Potential Winner

Quincy Crew is most probably the easiest pick for me. QC have won the last six Dota 2 events that they’ve played in. They just won ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas by dominating Thunder Predator (3:0) in the finals. If QC don’t compete in the Dota 2 BTS Pro Series Season 3 that would leave things a lot more wide open than the first two seasons. In that situation Thunder Predator is a way to go. Apart from their recent second place finish at ESL One Thailand 2020, Thunder Predator won the tier 3 Movistar Liga Pro Gaming Season 5 and finished 2nd in the tier 2 OGA Dota PIT S2: Americas. They lost to Quincy Crew in that tournament as well. I’m sure Thunder Predator will be looking for that first place money together with QC. My underdog pick for the team that could surprise us all in this tournament is CR4ZY. Let’s see what Aui_2000 and company can show in their matches.
